• Hello, new member from Finland reporting :)

I just bought GTV 3.0 from Germany, there was zahnriemen changed at
100 000 km. Can somebody tell me what is the change period in Germany?

In Finland we'll have period of 60 000 km / 3 years. I think just because of our climate is very hard with cold winter and warm summer....

  • As far as I know, Alfa Romeo wants you to change the transmission/engine belt every 60.000km/4 years.
So, the time period of 3 years in FIN is shorter due to difficult weather conditions in your country.

    Good luck!

  • Hello, welcome in the alfisti.net here. The change period in Germany also is 60.000 km / 5* years.
    * But under hard climatic conditions, as well is in Finland, every 3 years.

    Best regards

  • Hannu,
3 years and only 25.000km? I recommend to check tensioners before repalcing them.
A new cambelt will be sufficient.
I just replaced the cambelt for the same reason. 33.000km in 4 years. Tensioner is in an execellent condition, so I didn´t replace it.

  • Hannu,
the old cambelt didn´t lool like at the end of its period neither did it look like a new one.
I think it is more than tricky to estimate the inner condition of a cambelt after 4 or 5 years. We discussed this topic in this forum for a long time. The cambelt exists mainly of rubber. The performance of rubber cambelts decreases and it is a risky thing to conclude the condition of a rubber cambelt by its optical appearance. The visual test is not valid. If you dissamble the cambelt and all the other stuff, it is not worth to think about assembling the old cambelt again. A new one will cost approx. 30,-€. To make a long stoy short: change it.

Finnish drivers are famous for their rallye perfomance. Do you run your GTV like this?

The only finnish wor I know: pirrkelae (Correct spelling?)

  • Axel,
there's no question about the need of change the cambelt and sure I'm doing it. I just try to estimate how fast should I do that. I think that I'll stay my original plan and change the belt + tensioners in next 6 months.

Answer to your question: No, I'm not driving with my GTV like our rally pilots but like our F1 pilots :D
Actually they just put to our roads the winter speed limits: 80 and 100 km/h :( and I'm not so happy for that.

That only one Finnish word wasn't quite correct but very close. The correct one is: PERKELE. From where do you learn that????

    Hannu

  • PERKELE. From where do you learn that????

I co-operated somewhere in Afg... and Con... with some finish officers. :+)

    Axel:
you got a v6 turbo, means 12 valves.
gtv with 3.0 is every time a 24 valves.
a lot more pulleys are there and mostly they are made from plastic.

    cu folka

    Folka, you´re always right!!thatsit!
